Black Iron Pipe Connection Methods

black iron pipe

1. Threaded Connection (Most Common)

  • ① Cut tapered external threads at pipe ends using pipe threading machine
  • ② Wrap PTFE thread seal tape or apply pipe joint compound
  • ③ Tighten fittings (elbows/tees/unions) with pipe wrenches
  • ④ *Application: Low-pressure pipelines ≤DN50*

2. Welded Connection (High-Pressure/Critical Pipelines)

  • ① Bevel preparation: 35° bevel angle with 2-3mm root face
  • ② Execute SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) or GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
  • ③ Conduct post-weld X-ray inspection

3. Flanged Connection (Removable Sections)

  • ① Weld Slip-On (SO) flanges to pipe ends
  • ② Install oil-resistant asbestos rubber gaskets (gas service grade) between flanges
  • ③ Tighten bolts diagonally to specified torque values

Gas Pipe Hanging Specifications

1. Support Selection Criteria

  • ① Pipe Diameter Support Type Max. Spacing
  • ② ≤DN25 U-shaped single clamp 2.0m
  • ③ DN32-50 Double-bolt pipe clamp 3.0m
  • ④ ≥DN65 Portal hanger + vibration pad 4.5m

2. Installation Requirements

  • ① Wall mounting: M10 expansion anchors (concrete) or through-wall bolts (masonry)
  • ② Overhead piping: Install anti-sway braces every 15m, seismic restraints at bends
  • ③ Insulating rubber pads between pipe and supports (prevents galvanic corrosion)
  • ④ Slope control: Minimum 0.003 gradient toward drainage points
