On the other hand, malleable iron is a type of cast iron that has been heat-treated to improve its ductility and toughness. The heat treatment process involves annealing or “malleablizing” the cast iron, which transforms its microstructure into a more flexible and less brittle form. Malleable iron pipe fittings contain lower carbon content compared to traditional cast iron.
