BSPT Thread Fittings
BSPT Thread Fittings
As Fire Protection Manufacturers, we offer NPT and BSPT standard pipe fittings for a wide range of fire protection systems. Our NPT and BSPT thread fittings are designed to ensure reliable, leak-proof connections in various piping applications, including water, gas, and hydraulic systems. We provide high-quality fittings that meet international standards, ensuring optimal performance and safety for fire protection systems.
BSPT Thread Meaning
BSPT thread fittings stand for British Standard Pipe Taper Thread, featuring a tapered design for enhanced sealing and leak prevention.
- Tapered thread: BSPT’s outer diameter increases while the inner diameter decreases, improving sealing performance.
- Main application: Commonly used for connecting fluid, gas, and fire protection pipeline systems.
The Difference between BSPT and BSPP Threads
- BSPT (Tapered): Tapered thread. It is mainly used for high-pressure applications requiring good sealing.
- BSPP (Parallel): Parallel thread. It is used in low-pressure applications, requiring a sealing gasket for a secure seal.
BSPT Pipe Thread Standard
BSPT threads follow the definition of the British Standard Pipe Thread (BSP). BSPT has different specifications, including:
- BSPT 1/8″ to BSPT 6″ and other sizes.
- The external thread is tapered, while the internal thread matches the design standards.
BSPT and NPT Thread Difference
BSPT and NPT (National Pipe Thread) threads are both tapered threads used for pipe connections, but they have different standards and thread angles. They are not interchangeable.
- The taper of BSPT threads is 1:16, while the taper of NPT threads is 1:1.5.
- The standard unit used for BSPT threads is inches, while NPT threads are commonly used in the American system.
