Rigid Couplings And Flexible Couplings Serve Different Purposes

Rigid coupling and flexible couplings serve different purposes and are used in various mechanical applications based on the specific requirements.

There are two main types of couplings: rigid couplings and flexible couplings:

Guide To Rigid Coupling

Rigid couplings are typically made of metal, such as steel or stainless steel, and are designed to withstand high torque loads and harsh operating conditions. They are relatively simple in design and construction, consisting of two hubs that are connected by a solid, inflexible element. The hubs are usually keyed or splined to the shafts to prevent any rotational movement or slippage.

Sleeve Coupling: A sleeve coupling is the simplest type of rigid coupling. It consists of a cylindrical sleeve that fits over the ends of the two shafts and is secured with setscrews or bolts.

Flange Coupling: A flange coupling consists of two flanges that are bolted together, with the shafts connected to the flanges.

Jaw Coupling: A jaw coupling consists of two hubs with interlocking jaws that fit together. The jaws are held in place by bolts or pins, and they transmit torque through friction.

Disc Coupling: A disc coupling consists of a flexible disc or diaphragm sandwiched between two metal hubs. The disc allows for some misalignment and vibration isolation between the shafts, while transmitting torque.

As leading rigid coupling manufacturer and supplier, Fluid-Tech also produces and provides Grooved rigid coupling products, and export to oversea market. Please contact us for more products informations.

Flexible Coupling As Comprehensive Introduction

Gear Coupling: A gear coupling consists of two hubs with external or internal gear teeth that mesh together.

Chain Coupling: A chain coupling consists of two sprockets connected by a chain. Chain couplings are highly flexible and can accommodate large amounts of misalignment and axial movement.

Diaphragm Coupling: A diaphragm coupling consists of a flexible diaphragm or membrane sandwiched between two metal flanges.

Universal Joint: A universal joint, also known as a Cardan joint, consists of two yokes connected by a cross-shaped shaft.
