Malleable Iron 529 valve socket, called Extension Pieces M/F. valve socket is one kind of socket with one end of external thread and the other end is internal thread. Socket M/F is used to connect two pipes or fittings which have the same diameter and one is internal thread and the other one is external thread.

Classification of threads by shape:
Threads of the valve socket can be classified based on their shape, two common classifications are:
1. Straight threads: These threads have a constant diameter along their length. There are two main types:
Parallel Threads: Also known as cylindrical threads, they maintain a constant diameter throughout their length. They are commonly found in applications such as bolts, screws and nuts where the threads run straight along the axis.
2. Tapered threads: These threads vary in diameter along their length and usually form a point. The angle of taper can vary. This type includes:
Pipe Threads (Tapered): Such as NPT (National Pipe Taper), these threads are designed to form a tight seal when tightened and are commonly used on pipes and fittings.
Tapered threads for sealing (e.g. Whitworth standard): For sealing, these threads create a tighter seal due to the tapered design.
These classifications determine how threads are used, whether for assembly, sealing, or specific applications such as pipes or fasteners.
