What’s the difference between seamless steel pipe and ERW steel pipe ?
Seamless steel pipe is a long steel with a hollow section and no joints around the perimeter.
Seamless steel pipe has a hollow section, a large number of used as a pipeline to transport fluids, steel pipe and round steel and other solid steel, in the bending and torsional strength is the same, light weight, is an economic section steel, widely used in the manufacture of structural parts and mechanical parts, such as oil drill pipes, automobile transmission shafts, bicycle racks and steel scaffolding used in building construction.
Seamless steel pipes are widely used. General-purpose seamless steel pipes are rolled by ordinary carbon structural steel, low-alloy structural steel or alloy structural steel, with the largest output, and are mainly used as pipes or structural parts for transporting fluids.

Welded steel pipe, also known as welded pipe, is a steel pipe made of steel pipe made by welding after curling and forming of steel plate or steel strip. The production process of welded steel pipe is simple, the production efficiency is high, there are many varieties and specifications, and the equipment is small, but the general strength is lower than that of seamless steel pipe.
The production process of straight seam welded pipe is simple, the production efficiency is high, the cost is low, and the development is relatively fast. The strength of spiral welded pipes is generally higher than that of straight seam welded pipes, and larger welded pipes can be produced with narrower blanks, and welded pipes with different diameters can also be produced with the same width of blanks. However, compared with the straight seam pipe of the same length, the weld length is increased by 30~100%, and the production speed is lower.
Therefore, most of the smaller diameter welded pipes use straight seam welding, and the large-diameter welded pipes mostly use spiral welding.
